What is the daily schedule?

  • Grammar (PreK-6th) students attend classes TWO days per week. Our school rotation is Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
  • Logic (7th-8th) students attend classes THREE days per week. Monday/Tuesday/Thursday.
  • Rhetoric (9th-12th) students attend classes FOUR days per week. Monday-*Thursday.
  • Friday is for electives (Optional)
  • *Fine arts electives are included in Wednesday class days for grades 9-12.

What does a typical day at school look like?

  • Doors open at 8am
  • School hours are 8:15am – 3:30pm

Worship: Parents are always invited to join in devotions and chapel.

  • Daily Devotions:
  • K-6t’ grades: 8:30-8:45 am
  • 7th-12* grades: 8:15-8:25 am
  • *Chapel is once per month.

Lesson Plans and Instruction

  • Daily class day and home day lesson plans are posted in RenWeb.
  • All new concepts are introduced in the classroom.
  • Home day work is due on the next class day (unless specified by the teacher).

Grammar School Recess, Lunch, and Special Classes

  • Students in PreK-6th have two daily recesses.
  • Students usually each lunch in the pavilion and will move indoors during inclement weather. Students bring their lunches to school each day.

Logic and Rhetoric School Lunch and Wise Times

  • Students in 7th-12th have a 40-minute daily lunch period.
  • Students gather with their Houses for lunch once each week.
  • Students bring their own lunches each day.
  • Wise times are supervised work periods. Silence and study are expected in all wise time classrooms. Teachers are accessible to students during wise times.

What Does a typical home day look like?

Parents provide structure for home days, reinforce concepts learned at school, and ensure a firm grasp of concepts. Parents can estimate home day workloads using the calculation below. This assumes an average student who works diligently. Home day work should not regularly exceed 6 hours for upper grade students who work diligently and make good use of their wise times.

  • Grade Level + 1 hour = Approximate Home day Work for the Average Student
  • 6th-8th Home day work for the average student who works diligently should not exceed 6 hours
  • 9th-12th Do not have home days. The average student who works diligently should not have more than 90 minutes of homework

What is the curriculum?

GDA’s book lists are customized to the particular needs of this unique model? Curriculum selections are reviewed by a team id teachers and parents using a detailed rubric to ensure that curriculum choices are mission focused. Book lists are available for families after completion of enrollment.

A school’s most instrumental curriculum is its “invisible curriculum” — or the teachers themselves. More than even the best books, the love and habits of the teacher has the most powerful shaping influence on the life and learning of a student.

How do I enroll?

Once the online application and application fee are submitted, the families will be contacted to set up student readiness testing (PreK3 through 5th grades) and a family interview. Enrollment offers will be sent via email after completion of the family interview.

What does the tuition commitment involve?

Tuition commitment is for a full school year. Parents can choose to pay annually, semi-annually, or monthly.

Is tuition assistance available?

Families can apply for financial aid after completing the online admission application. Aid applications must be submitted to a third party, Financial Aid for Tuition (FAST) by July 15. Financial aid grants are made for one year at a time. Families seeking financial aid need to reapply every year.

What is the church reference requirement?

Discipleship through academics is an important goal for our students. A pastor reference is required for all applications. If you have moved to the area within the last few months and do not currently have a church home, please enter the name and email of your former pastor.
